The St. Kitts Teachers’ Union is therefore urging the officials in the Ministry of Education and the members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to work together in ensuring that such barbaric act is dealt with, in a manner that would seek to diffuse any future violence against teachers in our schools. The SKTU has met with the Ag Police Commissioner and has been assured that this matter is being given the necessary attention and investigations are ongoing. Any member of the general public having information about this matter is hereby encouraged to report such to the police.
The St. Kitts Teachers’ Union is working to ensure that the work environment is one which promotes and enhance the wellbeing of our teachers so that they could contribute meaningfully to the process and value of education. President of the Caribbean Union of Teachers, Mr Marvin Andalla, also lend support to the St Kitts Teachers’ Union describing the action unconscionable. He further stated that protection must be given to teachers by all concerned and call on the entire public in St Kitts to give support to our teachers. President Andall passionately stated that perpetrators must be treated in such a way that it will deter others from such detestable actions.
